sterbro — Family-friendly, green, and close to the waterfront. Flledparken for picnics, great brunch spots, and a calmer pace than the center
Best time to visit
May through September for long days (17+ hours of light in June), outdoor swimming, and cycling weather. December for hygge, Christmas markets, and Tivoli's winter lights. Winter (January through March) is dark and cold but cheapest and coziest.
Getting around
Rent a bike immediately. Copenhagen is flat, has separated bike lanes everywhere, and cycling is faster than any other transport for city distances
Metro runs 24/7 and reaches the airport in 15 minutes. Buy a City Pass (24h for $12) or tap your credit card directly
Harbor buses (yellow boats) are free with a transit pass and run the waterfront route. Best free sightseeing in the city
Walking works for the center. Nyhavn to Tivoli to Meatpacking District is 20 minutes on foot across all three
