Best time to visit
December through February for summer hiking and long daylight (sunset at 9:30pm). June through August for ski season. March through April for autumn colors in Arrowtown and fewer tourists.
Getting around
Walk the town center everything is within 10 minutes. The lakefront path connects most restaurants and activities
Rent a car for Glenorchy, Arrowtown, and day trips. Roads are stunning but winding. Drive on the left
Orbus public buses connect Frankton, airport, and town for $2 NZD ($1.20 USD)
Shuttles run to ski fields in winter ($30 to $50 round-trip). Book ahead on powder days
