Valencia is Spain's third city but feels like a secret. It invented paella, built a futuristic City of Arts and Sciences in a dried riverbed, and has beaches within walking distance of the old town. It's Barcelona's vibe at half the price and a fraction of the crowds.

Best time to visit
March through June and September through November for warm weather without summer heat. Las Fallas festival (March 15-19) is extraordinary but chaotic. July-August is very hot (38C+) but beaches are perfect.
Getting around
Valenbisi bike share ($15/year) with stations every 300m the city is flat and cycling is king
Metro Line 3 and 5 connect the airport to center in 25 min for $5
Walking covers the old town easily everything is within 20 minutes on foot
EMT buses run everywhere for $1.50. The tourist card includes unlimited transport
