Getting There
Miami to Bogota is a 3.5-hour flight. That's shorter than flying to Chicago. Spirit runs it for $127-$180 round trip regularly. Avianca (which is actually great) does it for $180-$220. We flag these in the deals dashboard constantly because they pop up every week.
What Things Actually Cost
Let me just throw some numbers at you: - Nice sit-down restaurant meal: $6-10 - Craft beer at a brewery: $2.50 - Uber across the entire city: $3-5 - Boutique hotel in Chapinero: $40-55/night - Coffee (Colombia, duh): $1-2 for genuinely incredible beans - Full-day walking tour: $10-15 (tip-based)
I spent four days there last March and my total non-flight expenses were $380. For four days. With nice hotels and eating out every meal.
The Neighborhoods
Skip the backpacker hostels in La Candelaria (unless that's your scene) and stay in Chapinero or Zona G. These are where young professionals live, the restaurants are phenomenal, and it feels safe and walkable. La Candelaria is worth a day trip for the graffiti tour and Museo del Oro, but sleeping there is overrated.
Usaquen is another gem: Sunday flea market is amazing for leather goods and local art. The restaurants on the north side have outdoor seating and live music most weekends.
The Altitude Thing
Bogota sits at 8,600 feet. You'll feel it on day one: shortness of breath, maybe a headache. Drink water, skip the nightlife the first night, and you'll adjust by day two. Don't let this scare you off because it's manageable and everyone deals with it.

Bogota is the best value trip from South Florida, period. The flights are cheap, the city is fascinating, the food is underrated, and your money stretches impossibly far. It's not a beach trip. It's a food and culture trip. And for $500 all-in including flights? Nothing else comes close.
