Breeze Airways, the airline founded by JetBlue's original creator David Neeleman, is going all in on Florida. The carrier just announced 38 new routes across the state and by this summer, Florida will account for nearly half of all Breeze flights nationwide.
That's a staggering commitment to a single state and it's great news for deal seekers.
What's happening
Breeze is growing its Florida operation by 51 percent year over year. New routes are launching from Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando. They're adding service to cities like Baltimore, Trenton, Dayton, and a bunch of smaller markets that previously required connecting through a hub.
Fares on these new routes start at $79 one way. Breeze's whole model is flying routes nobody else bothers with. Tampa to Hartford? Fort Lauderdale to Providence? Jacksonville to Las Vegas? These aren't routes you'll find on American or Delta, and thats exactly the point.
Why Breeze matters for Florida travelers
Most people haven't heard of Breeze yet. They launched in 2021 and have been growing steadily but quietly. Their sweet spot is connecting mid size cities that the big three carriers ignore. If you live in Florida and want to visit friends or family in places like Richmond, Tulsa, Akron, or Bentonville, Breeze might be your only nonstop option.
Their planes are newer Airbus A220s and Embraer E190/E195 jets. The A220 in particular is a great aircraft for passenger comfort. Wider seats than a 737 and quieter engines.
The deal hunting angle
New routes from new airlines create pricing pressure across the board. When Breeze launches Tampa to Nashville at $79, Southwest suddenly can't charge $189 on the same route anymore. We see this effect every time a new entrant adds capacity at one of our airports.

One thing to note
Breeze doesn't fly daily on most routes. Many of their routes operate 2 to 4 times per week. This means you need flexibility on travel dates, but if you have it, the savings can be substantial. Their Nice (premium) fare includes free checked bags, seat selection, and extra legroom for around $30 to $50 more than base.
